Several musicians from the Erongo region released some captivating tunes in July, with Tuhafeni, Ixa and Gerenyovest not disappointing their fans.

Swakopmund-based Josef “Tuhafeni” Elia just released his first single as a solo artist. The song “Ohole” refers to the word love in Oshiwambo.

“The song speaks of finding the one you love and never letting her go,” he said.

For this track, Tuhafeni – who is a member of well-known all-male a cappella group African Vocals – teamed up with Frans “Rhymez” Shindongo who also boasts several years’ choral experience.

The versatile Rhymez who is known for his singing, rapping and producing skills, arranged the up-tempo amapiano instrumental.

His harmonised back-up vocals fused with Tuhafeni’s high-pitched voice, delivers a catchy melody for the danceable and vocally well-arranged hit.

Walvis Bay-based rapper Ike “Ixa” Adonis collaborated with the soulful singer Salvador Mouers on the Afrikaans song “Sout en Suiker”, which currently features on Dubz’ Local Hitlist, a weekly top 10 countdown of local songs on the Fresh FM.

Swakopmund-based afro-pop sensation Jeremia “Gerenyovest” Germanus, teamed up with DJ Chronic for his latest offering, “Granadilla”.

The love song is easy to listen to with well composed instruments. Gerenyovest brilliantly uses of similes, metaphors and other figurative language to express his love for the lady whom the song was written for. It is a song you won’t mind putting on repeat.
