Internasionale fliek op Namibiese bodem geskiet

Die verfilming van “Ein Platz an der Sonne” (’n Plek in die son) is volstoom langs die kus aan die gang.

Caillin Basson van Joe Vision Productions het in ’n mediaverklaring bevestig dat die produksieproses reeds op 30 Augustus begin het en tot Oktober in die Erongo-, Otjizondjupa- en die Khomasstreek verfilm word.

Die Namibiese produksie maatskappy Joe Vision Productions en Duitsland se Zero One Film werk aan die fliek, met die bekroonde Lars Kraume as regisseur.

Kraume het al met van Duitsland se mees bekende akteurs gewerk en was hy by talle televisieproduksies betrokke. Sy fliek The People vs. Fritz Bauer is vir nege Duitse filmtoekenings benoem.

Luidens Basson handel die fliek oor ’n jong Duitse antropoloog wat, ná hy ’n Herero-meisie by ’n uitstalling in Berlyn ontmoet, in Duits Suidwes-Afrika kom soek.

Die vroulike hoofrol word vertolk deur die Namibiër Girley Jazama terwyl die Duitse akteur Leonard Scheicher die manlike hoofrol vertolk.

Alhoewel die fliek fiktief is, word dit as ’n belangrike bydrae tot die voortgesette gesprekke rondom vergoedings tussen Duitsland en Namibië bestempel.

“Gelyktydig beklemtoon die produksie die belangrikheid van direkte belegging in buitelandse films in Namibië, en hoe dit Namibiërs direk beïnvloed,” het Basson gesê.

Sy het ook daarop gewys dat die produksie kom in ’n tyd wanneer die filmbedryf dringend werk benodig.

“Die produksie lewer ’n beduidende bydrae tot die plaaslike ekonomie ten opsigte van geleenthede sowel as voordele vir nywerhede soos gasvryheid, logistiek en vervoer. Die fliek het reeds aan 1 644 Namibiërs werk verskaf voor en agter die kamera. Die oorweldigende vraag na werksgeleenthede was duidelik in die meer as 1 500 werksaansoeke wat ontvang was.”

Sy het bygevoeg dat ’n databasis wat verdere geleenthede bestuur, ontwikkel sal word om te help met die professionalisering van die filmbedryf.

“Dit is ook ’n geleentheid vir ons as ’n nasie om ’n doelbewuste poging aan te wend om te verseker dat die kultuur- en kreatiewe sektor op ’n konvensionele manier in die ekonomie geïntegreer word as ’n belangrike bydraer tot die verbetering van ons nasionale identiteit en verfilming as ’n nasionale bron van inkomste vir Namibië.”
