Die “Liefde Wen” inisiatief is uniek in die sin dat dit daad by woord sit.

Alhoewel belangstellendes ’n Liefde Wen-item by Mars Music in Swakopmund kan koop, gaan dit eintlik meer oor liefdadigheid – die verkope is maar net een manier waarop daar in die projek teruggeploeg word.

Liefde Wen samel gereeld boeke vir biblioteke in, en het al deur hul rugsakprojek en Feeding Namibia ’n daadwerklike verskil in verskeie gemeenskappe gemaak.

Feeding Namibia kom vanuit Liefde Wen en is teen N$0,84 ’n koppie sop en N$3,40 ’n porsie mieliepap, besig is om behoeftige Namibiërs te voer. “Die pryse is wonderlik en dis nie gemors kos wat voorgesit word nie, dis ordentilike porsies,” sê Freddie van Niekerk, eienaar van Mars Music.

Feeding Namibia werk onder andere saam met SeaWork, Promise Land Walvisbaai, Hand of Hope in Windhoek, Shofar-gemeentes, Festus Gonteb Skool in Mondesa en Kristines Soup Kitchen. “Baie mense nader ons en vra of hulle met die wins van hulle produk of diens kan help. Daar is byvoorbeeld ’n plaaslike motorwassery wat vir elke kar wat hulle was, ’n kind voer,” sê Van Niekerk.

Hy vertel ook van die TravelBuddy-inisiatief om drie kinders te voer vir elke padkaart wat hulle verkoop.
Hoewel individue self van die Feeding Namibia-produkte kan koop en uitdeel, hoop Van Niekerk om die gemeenskap en meer besighede betrokke te kry en sodoende die Feeding Namibia-projek wyer te laat strek.
