Hangana Abalone and NAFAU sign recognition agreement

24 June 2020 | Labour

Luderitz

Hangana Seafood announced that it had signed a new recognition and procedural agreement for Hangana Abalone and the Namibia Food & Allied Workers Union (NAFAU).

The agreement affects 41 Hangana Abalone employees.

Bianca Muller, the human capital manager of the Lüderitz-based company which is a subsidiary of the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group, said the agreement will ensure that the relationship between the management of Hangana Abalone and NAFAU is further strengthened.

She added that the agreement also allows the company and its employees to resolve workplace Industrial Relations (IR) matters in an amicable way.

NAFAU branch organiser Moses Ruben said the agreement will pave the way for workers to be represented equitably and allow the union to provide a meaningful service to its members.

“The union and its members are happy to have reached an agreement and will support all endeavours by the company in accordance with the Recognition Agreement.”
