Masen Awaseb (28) is Vrydag (10 Januarie) dood toe die 22-jarige Kondjeni Mwatukange na bewering met ‘n bakkie in ‘n grys Volkswagen Jetta vasgejaag het waaraan hy en twee ander mans besig was om te werk.

Die slagoffer en sy twee vriende is almal inwoners van Swakopmund.

Na bewering het Mwatukange ‘n Toyota Hilux-bakkie sonder toestemming van die eienaar gevat en roekeloos in die strate van die Usab-woonbuurt in Karibib gery. Die eienaar van die bakkie het glo gelê en slaap toe die voorval plaasgevind het.

Volgens die misdaadverslag van die Namibiese polisie in die Erongostreek wat deur adj-komm. Erastus Iikuyu vrygestel is, het Mwatukange eers in die Volkswagen Jetta vasgery wat die dood van Awaseb veroorsaak het.

Hy het toe daarna ook in ene Moses Nghililewanga se plakkershut ingery waar die voertuig tot stilstand gekom het. Niemand van die plakkershut is beseer nie.

Mwatukange het toe op vlug geslaan en die eienaar van die Toyota Hilux bakkie in kennis gaan stel van die ongeluk. Hy het hom eers die volgende oggend (Saterdag) aan polisiebeamptes by die Karibib-polisiestasie oorgegee.

Mwatukange staar nou sowat agt klagtes in die gesig wat strafbare manslag en ook roekelose en nalatige bestuur insluit. Hy sal waarskynlik Maandag op Karibib in die hof verskyn.

Op Walvisbaai is twee verberging van geboortes aangemeld.

Op 6 Januarie het 'n lid van Walvisbaai se publiek 'n plastieksak met 'n fetus van ongeveer 28 weke by die munisipale stortingsterrein ontdek.

Die fetus was al in ‘n gevorderde staat van ontbinding en is na die Walvisbaai-lykshuisgestuur vir verdere ondersoeke. Niemand is nog in verband met die saak inhegtenis geneem nie.

Na bewering het 'n vrou wat by die munisipale stortingsterrein werk op 8 Januarie tussen 13:30 en 15:00 ook daar die liggaam van 'n pasgebore babameisie ontdek.

Die vrou wat op die gru-toneel afgekom het, het haar kollegas laat weet wat toe die polisie in kennis gestel het.

Ook in hierdie geval is niemand nog inhegtenis geneem nie.
