Various goods were on display at a pop-up car-boot sale that took place on Saturday outside the Hotel Prinzessin Rupprecht.
The goods on sale displayed in car boots included home-made jam and fish as well as previously loved clothing to earrings and plastic goods. Coffee, tea and snacks were also sold inside the hotel.
Event organiser Sammy Neumann said she is considering making the pop-up car-boot sale a regular event.
“There are many people who are interested in joining this effort, but I kept it small due to Covid restrictions. We are looking at hosting it approximately every two months.”
According to her, the east wind conditions were the only challenge they experienced.
“We don’t have the sand/dust present here, just the wind. Two exhibitors did not pitch up because of the sand, but the rest did,” said Neumann who made sure that all precautions were followed, especially the newly adjusted mass gathering guideline.
Not more than 50 people were allowed at the venue at a time.
“The highest we had was 35 people. All those selling items had their sanitisers readily available at their respective stalls and wore masks. I also asked all the hotel staff members to wear the masks,” Neumann said.
Depending on the next announcement by government on Covid9 protocols, the organisers intend to ask the municipality to close half of the street to allow more exhibitors on the road for the next event.
