Girl (5) dies after snake bite, boy drowns

A girl (5) died after being bitten by a snake at Etope Village near Oshakati on Saturday.

She was allegedly sent by her mother to fetch a diaper from a room where she was bitten on the leg by a snake. She died at home. There was no transport available on time to take her to hospital, according to a report released by the police. The snake was killed.

A teenage boy (13), Abner Shiwalo, drowned in a swimming pool at the Vamumwa recreation park at Outapi on Saturday. In another unnatural death incident, a man (36) of Ncumushi Village in Kavango East, died after drinking an unknown substance on New Year’s Day. The police are investigating.
