Die Walvisbaai-tak van die Kankervereniging van Namibië (CAN) het ’n spoggerige kuier, uitstappie en fietsrit by die Atlantis-sportklub op die hawedorp aangebied.

Meer as 200 mense het deelgeneem aan ’n pretloop van 5 km en ’n fietsrit van 15 km wat deel van die geleentheid was. Deelnemers moes elkeen mooier of snaakser aantrek om in aanmerking vir die prys te kom

Twaalf fietsryers het aan die fietsrit deelgeneem.

Daar is 'n bedrag van N$ 16 500 ingesamel ten bate van die Kankervereniging, met die poging.

Emelda Mouton, ’n CAN-vrywillger, het gesê die geleentheid kon nie verlede jaar weens Covid en die gepaardgaande inperkings plaasvind nie. “Hierdie keer het almal regtig moeite gedoen om aan te trek en op te daag. Danksy ons wonderlike borge kon ons ook ’n paar pryse uitdeel.”

Sy het gesê die idee was aanvanklik om in Julie ’n ontbyt aan te bied. “Dit kon weens Covid nie plaasvind nie. Ons is egter baie dankbaar dat ons hierdie geleentheid kon aanbied. Ons is ewe dankbaar vir almal wat deelgeneem het en hierdie dag ekstra spesiaal gemaak het. Hopelik hou ons volgende jaar meer geleenthede.”

Een van die bes geklede gesinne was die Bock-gesin, Andre, Heidi, Andelize en Freanu. Group Varora wat uit Eleanor Jansen, Marina Potgieter, Dicksey Kuin, Anneke Esterhuizen, Memory Majangara en Lynn Potgieter bestaan het, is as die bes geklede groep aangewys. Die bes geklede vrou was Ludene Valtysson.
