Geniet die Woestynfees aanlyn

Net Namibiese skole neem vanjaar aan die BUCO Woestynfees deel en NMH Events gaan al die opwinding vasvang.

Die jaarlikse BUCO Woestynfees vind vanaf 7 tot 10 April by die Walvisbaai Privaat Hoërskool se sportvelde plaas.

Die byeenkoms is die sewende van sy soort.

Die fees het nie verlede jaar weens Covid-19 plaasgevind nie en word dit vanjaar aangebied met gesondheidsmaatreëls wat streng gevolg sal word.

Een van die reëls by die fees is dat geen toeskouers toegelaat gaan word nie.

Vanjaar gaan net Namibiese skole teen mekaar in hokkie, rugby en netbal meeding.

Die spanne van Walvisbaai Privaat Hoërskool (die gasheer), Windhoek Afrikaanse Privaatskool (WAP), Privaatskool Elnatan, Windhoek Gimnasium, Pro-Ed Academy, Sekondêre Skool De Duine, Windhoek Hoër Tegniese Skool, Privaatskool Moria en Windhoek Hoërskool (WHS) gaan kragte meet.

Namibia Media Holdings (NMH) Events het die geleentheid aangegryp om van die wedstryde op www.sportwrap.my.na uit te saai sodat Namibiers en die res van die wêreld in die opwinding kan deel.

Die uitsending begin môre met die netbalwedstryd tussen Walvisbaai Privaat Hoërskool en Windhoek Gimnasium om 09:20, waarna die eerste hokkiewedstryd tussen Walvisbaai Privaat Hoërskool en Elnatan (meisies) om 11:30 volg. Die eerste rugbywedstryd tussen WAP en Windhoek Gimnasium is om 15:30.

NMH se Richard Botha het verduidelik dat NMH Events se span van splinternuwe en gevorderde kamerategnologie by die geleentheid gebruik maak. “Die Pixellot-kamera is ’n moderne opsporingskamera. Dit is ontwikkel om spelers op die veld op te spoor en die spel te volg met gevorderde kunsmatige intelligensie (AI) gebaseerde sagteware. Sy vier kameras bied ’n 180° gesigsveld. Deur middel van hierdie tegnologie is ons in staat om gevorderde spanstatistieke te bekom, soos die aantal kere wat die bal aangegee word, doele of selfs foute wat deur ’n spesifieke speler gemaak word. Ons gaan ’n sportuitsending vir Namibië bied soos nog nooit vantevore gesien en ervaar is nie. ”

Alle uitsendings word na bogenoemde webwerf gevoer sodat geen oomblik misgeloop of verlore raak nie.

Opknappings

Die sportveld by die skool is opgeknap, die pawiljoen is uitgebrei en die omliggende geboue is opgegradeer.

Walvisbaai Privaat Hoërskool se sporthoof en ook hooforganiseerder van die byeenkoms, Henry Kemp, het verduidelik daar gaan streng by Covid-19-regulasies gehou word.

“Die belangrikste is die veiligheid van ons deelnemers. Dit gaan moeilik wees om ’n byeenkoms sonder toeskouers te hou, maar dit is belangrik vir ons spelers om ’n bietjie tyd te hê om te speel ná die inperkings wat die Covid-19-pandemie meegebring het.”

Kemp het benadruk daar sal streng gehou word by die geen toeskouersreël soos deur die Namibia Schools Sport Union (NSSU) aangevoer.

“Dit is een van die voorwaardes waarvolgens die geleentheid aangebied word. Slegs die beamptes en die spanne wat speel, mag die veld betree. Spanne sal 30 minute voor hul wedstryde by die veld aankom en ongeveer 30 minute na hul wedstryde weer vertrek. Dit sal ons in staat stel om die hoeveelheid mense wat binne die veld saamtrek, te monitor.

“Die fees is nie ’n liga nie, en die enigste ding wat die deelnemers daaruit kan haal is om te spog. Hopelik, indien daar vanjaar ’n liga is, kan skole hierdie fees as voorbereiding gebruik. Om te wen is nie die belangrikste nie; ons wil hê die spelers moet dit geniet.”
