Geldinsameling vir tiener op Swakop

Nadat ’n jong meisie se vingers ernstig in ’n fratsongeluk beseer is, het lede van die gemeenskap saamgespan om geld vir haar mediese onkoste in te samel.

Lede van die gemeenskap op Swakopmund het kragte saamgesnoer om geldinsamelings ten bate van Vanessa Grimbeek te hou, wat verskeie van haar vingers in ’n fratsongeluk verloor het.

Die 17-jarige Swakopmunder het die punt van haar regterhandse pinkie en die punte van haar linkerhandse ring- en middelvingers verloor nadat sy onlangs deur elektrisiteit geskok is.

Ná die voorval is sy na die Swakopmund se staatshospitaal gehaas en is later na die Windhoek Sentrale Hospitaal oorgeplaas.

Anel Zabel, Grimbeek se onderwyseres, sê Vanessa is ’n verantwoordelike jong meisie met ’n groot hart.

“Vanessa is baie getrou en ’n harde werker. Sy is een van ons verantwoordelikste kinders en het ’n baie sterk persoonlikheid. Sy is ’n regte vegter.”

Grimbeek se jonger suster het downsindroom. Dit het beteken haar pa moes op Swakopmund agterbly terwyl haar ma in Windhoek aan haar sy is tydens haar behandeling.

Haar pa, Neels, het tans geen vaste werk nie en Vanessa se ongeluk het die gesin se finansies onder verdere druk geplaas.

Gegewe die gesin se finansiële situasie, is privaat mediese behandeling buite die kwessie.

Vanessa se ma, Elana, vertel van die vreeslike omstandighede by die Windhoek Sentrale Hospitaal, onder meer dat daar vir dae lank nie water in Vanessa se saal was nie en muise wat oral wemel. Mettertyd is ’n poging aangewend om die muise te verwyder.

Insameling

’n Inwoner van Swakopmund, René Genis, het besluit om ’n geldinsamelingsinisiatief vir die Grimbeek-gesin van stapel te stuur en het die musikant Werner van Zyl en fopdosser Ryno du Plessis daarby betrek.

Nog ’n suster van Vanessa, Michelle Müller, was voor die Covid-19-pandemie ’n Zumba-instrukteur en sy span haar danstalent in om geld in te samel. Sy gaan ’n Zumba-sessie aanbied waarvan opnames verkoop sal word.

“Ek en Vanessa het altyd saam Zumba gedoen en sy het dit verskriklik geniet,” het Müller gesê.
