Food Fest kom weer

Nadat die Nedbank Food Fest aanvanklik vroeër vanjaar gekanselleer is, is die geleentheid wat beoog om plaaslike entrepreneurs te bevorder, weer op dreef.

Verlede jaar se Nedbank Food Fest het feesgangers op ’n geurige reis oor die hele wêreld geneem.

Fest-organiseerder, Dalene Stephanus, sê dit is tyd om dié unieke proe-ervaring terug huis toe te bring.

Die tema vir hierdie jaar se geleentheid is “Local is Lekker” en sal na verwagting vanaf 17 tot 19 Desember op Swakopmund plaasvind.

Getrou aan die tema, het die reëlingskomitee gesorg vir plaaslike vermaak en die Suid-Afrikaanse groep Rubber Duc is vervang deur die plaaslike groep The Ell's uit Windhoek. Suzy Eises en Ronaldo Kandume sal ook die verhoog betree.

Volgens Stephanus duur die keuringsproses vir vanjaar se uitstallers voort.

“Ons beplan om na raming 40 tot 45 uitstallers te akkommodeer. Ons hou die getalle doelbewus laag om veiligheidsredes te midde van die voortslepende coronapandemie,” het sy verduidelik.

Om dieselfde rede sal die uitleg van die stalletjies ook verander.

“Alhoewel dit op dieselfde perseel sal wees as voorheen, sal die opstelling anders daarna uitsien. Ons wil mense aanmoedig om deur te loop in plaas van rond te hang. As ons kan, wil ons mense eerder aanmoedig om vooruit bestellings te plaas en hul kos soos ’n wegneemete af te haal. Ons sal sanitasie-stasies beskikbaar hê, en ons gaan kyk na sosiale afstand in rye, ensovoorts,” het Stephanus gesê.

Sy voeg by die sukses van die verskaffers is uiters belangrik.

“Ons wil hê dat ons verkopers wins moet maak en dat soveel as moontlik mense dit moet bywoon. Veral nou het verskaffers soveel nodig as wat hulle kan kry; dit was ’n moeilike jaar veral vir hulle; spesifiek vir straatverkopers wat maande lank nie hul produkte kon verkoop nie,” het Stephanus gesê.
