Fistball Namibia opened the Fistball season in Swakopmund this weekend with their first tournament for the year.
“We were blessed with beautiful weather. In some matches the quality was exceptionally good given that it was the first tournament of the year,” says Helmo Minz of Fistball Namibia.
Clubs from all over Namibia competed and according to Minz, the quality of the games made for a tough battle for the win.
In the A-category, SKW 1 reigned champion against CFC 1 putting the latter in second place. On their heels followed CFC 2 and in fourth place, SFC 1.
In the B-category, the SFC Old Boys proved that they could still deliver a hardy battle on the fistball court as they trumped SFC 2 in the final. SKW 2 stepped into 3rd place.
“This provides teams a platform to improve their skills and fitness and it is just fun competing against different clubs,” says Minz who believes that fistball in Namibia is readily improving.
“A huge step forward was made by the youth teams compared to November last year,” he says.
