Facebook users can now create virtual or digital personas that resemble themselves to make a more personalised Facebook experience.
To create your avatar, go to the Facebook or Messenger comment composer, click on the “smiley” button, and then the sticker tab. Click “Create Your Avatar”.
Avatars can be set as your profile picture, shared to your news feed and used on your gaming profile. It can also be incorporated into comments, Facebook stories and Facebook Messenger. Plans to include avatars in text posts with backgrounds are also well under way.
“With so many emotions and expressions to choose from, avatars let you share your authentic reactions and feelings with family and friends across the app.
Facebook is home to some of your most personal content and we want to allow people to share and react to that content in the most personalised way possible,” said Nunu Ntshingila, Regional Director for Facebook Africa.
Facebook users can customise the hairstyle, complexion and wardrobe of their avatar to resemble themselves. In the time of the pandemic, the avatars can also be adorned with Covid-19 support stickers.
