‘Erongo moet nie op louere rus’

Die goewerneur van die Erongostreek, mnr. Neville Andre, waarsku die streek om nie hul Covid-19-pogings te verminder ná die afname in daaglikse nuwe gevalle nie.

Die waarskuwing volg ná die ministerie van gesondheid en maatskaplike dienste Dinsdag (8 September) geen nuwe positiewe gevalle op Walvisbaai aangemeld het nie.

Tydens Vrydag (11 September) se weeklikse Covid-19-mediakonferensie op Swakopmund het die hoofbeampte van die Erongostreekraad, me. Ludmilla Döeses, namens Andre ’n toespraak gelewer.

Volges Andre is daar steeds ruimte vir verbetering om die Covid-19-pandemie se impak in die streek te versag.

“Kom ons wees paraat in ons pogings om gemeenskappe bewus van voorkomende maatreëls te maak en hou aan om inligting oor die Covid-19-pandemie aan mense te verskaf,” het Andre gesê.

“Baie dankie aan alle rolspelers vir julle bydrae om die verspreiding van die virus te beperk en te verseker die Erongostreek is nie meer die episentrum nie.”

Dié rolspelers sluit in gesondheidswerkers, veiligheidsgroepe, vennote in die private sektor, die gemeenskap, geloofsgebaseerde organisasies, tradisionele leiers, die jeug en vrywilligers, internasionale vennote, politici en administratiewe hoofde en personeel van kantore, ministeries en agentskappe.

’n Hupstoot vir toerisme

Andre het die regering se toerismeherlewingsplan uitgelig wat beoog om die toerismebedryf ’n broodnodige hupstoot gee. Die Erongostreek hoop om binnekort weer toeriste te verwelkom.

“Die ministerie van omgewing, bosbou en toerisme het deeglik beplan en gepaste protokol geïmplementeer om te verseker toeriste sal by regulasies hou en veilig wees,” het hy gesê.

Andre het inwoners aangemoedig om toeriste wat die streek besoek met ope arms te verwelkom.

“Kom ons maak seker dat hulle te midde van die moeilike tye steeds hul besoek geniet.”
