The Dome op Swakopmund is gereed om aspirant entrepreneurs te verwelkom na hul Entrepreneursfabriek.

Volgens The Dome se uitvoerende hoof, mnr. Fanus Engelbrecht, is die konsep eie aan The Dome en is nog nooit elders beproef nie. Hy glo egter deur noue bande met die Universiteit van Pretoria en neurosielkundige studies, het The Dome ’n wenkonsep beet.

Die Entrepreneursfabriek word in “besigheidsbokse” verdeel. Elke deelnemende besigheid sal ’n boks kry wat tot die besigheid se spesifikasies gemaak word. Hierdie besigheidsbokse sal dan soos normale klein- en mediumgrootte besighede (SME's) funksioneer met die mentorskap van ’n individu wat met daardie sektor vertroud is.

“Ons wil binnekort begin om mentors uit die gemeenskap te trek en wil graag ’n ‘Friends of the Academy’-program stig wat dan mentorskap aanmoedig. Natuurlik gaan ons mentors ook ’n opleidingskursus voltooi,” sê Engelbrecht.

Die Swakopmund-munisipaliteit het onlangs ingestem om tien besighede te borg om aan die program deel te neem - iets waaroor burgemeester, mnr. Nehemia Salomon, baie opgewonde is.

Salomon sê die borgskap van die tien entrepreneurs strook met die munisipaliteit se doelwitte om die plaaslike ekonomie ’n hupstoot te gee en om die jeug van Swakopmund op te hef.

Die uitvoerende hoof van die Swakopmund se munisipaliteit, mnr. Archie Benjamin, het bygevoeg dat hy vertroue in die konsep het.

“Ons sien met ons SME-opleidingsprogramme dat entrepreneurs nie so suksesvol is soos ons gehoop het nie. Ons gaan natuurlik nog aan met entrepreneursopleiding, maar hierdie konsep is belowend.”

Fokus

Volgens Engelbrecht fokus die program hoofsaaklik op die entrepreneur en nie die besigheid nie.

“Ons wil verander hoe eienaars oor besigheid dink. Hulle kan hier uitstap en hul besigheid kan onsuksesvol wees, maar omdat hulle dan ’n entrepreneursdenkwyse sal hê, sal hulle waarskynlik weer probeer en met die tweede of derde probeerslag, sal hulle ’n suksesvolle besigheid kan skep."

Hy sê deelnemers sal vir die eerste ses maande van die program in verskeie besigheidsituasies geplaas word om hul prakties vir die sakesektor op te lei.

“Hierdie is glad nie ’n klaskamer-ondervinding nie. Ons wil die konsep van ’n konvensionele klaskamer vermy. Dié konsep is heeltemal prakties gedrewe en vind ’n basis in neurosielkunde.”
