Elite cricket training squad announced

Cricket Namibia released the names of members of the elite men’s squad for the 2019-2020 season.

Captain Merwe Erasmus will lead the team consisting of 25 players with newcomers such as Divan la Cock and Jan I de Villiers.

They will be complemented by senior players JJ Smit, Jan Frylinck and Pikkie Ya France that gained a lot of experience over the past few years.

Head coach Pierre de Bruyn labeled the Eagles squad as a very exciting team, saying it is balanced with youth and experience. He added that players definitely have the ability to make the country proud at a number of exciting tournaments lined up.

The Eagles will take on the USA and PNG in the USA in September to start of the CWC Division 2 League which means that the team will play a minimum of 36 ODI matches over the next the years.

The national team also qualified for the Global T20 World Cup qualifier in Dubai which will be played towards the end of October 2019. This is the last hurdle to qualify for the ICC T20 World Cup in 2020.
