Elephant tusks and AK-47 confiscated

A 23-year-old man was found in possession of two parts of elephant tusks at Hayisisira village in Kavango West on Sunday.


The man is said to have offered the tusks for sale without a permit to possess them, which is issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism. The value of the tusks is unknown and the suspect appeared in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

A man (23) was found in possession of an illegal AK-47 assault rifle and cannabis valued at N$50. He was arrested and appeared in the Okahao Magistrate’s Court today (Tuesday).

Another man (23) was found in possession of 110 mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of N$13 200 on Sunday (26 December). The discovery was made during a police search at a Windhoek roadblock.
