Elderly woman commits suicide

10 September 2021 | Crime

A suicide was reported at Otjovatjimba village in Omatjete on Wednesday.

The regional police commander for community affairs in the Erongo region, inspector Ileni Shapumba, confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Adolfine Kuaere (68).

He said that the deceased allegedly gave her cellphone to one of her workers and asked her to switch it off.

“She then went into her house, locked the door from inside and committed suicide by hanging herself with a rope tied to a window frame. No foul play is suspected and the next of kin have been informed.”

The body was discovered around 12:00 by family members who opened the house with a spare key.
