EIF warns against social media investment scam

The Environmental Investment Fund of Namibia (EIF) has issued a warning to the public of an investment scam on Telegram social media platform using its name.

According to the warning, the perpetrator is promising lucrative returns on small investments and shares the EIF website link to the victims as proof that the investment is legitimate.

“The EIF hereby warns its stakeholders and public at large o take pre-cautionary measures and inform them that the EIF is in no way involved in promoting or taking investments from the public and paying it out within hours."

The EIF emphasised that none of its employees is mandated to take money from the public and promise to pay it back within hours.

"The EIF condemns in its strongest language those who are using its name to scam people of their money. The fund has opened a police case for investigation further on the matter and urge the public to come forth with more information especially those that have been scammed and report the matter to the police for investigation,” the statement read.
