Eerste reën vanaf vandag voorspel

'Wilde seisoenoorgang' kom glo

Reën in die vorm van geïsoleerde donderbuie word vanaf vandag in die Zambezistreek, twee Kavangostreke, die ooste van Otjo­zondjupa en die Omahekestreek verwag. Boonop sal sterk winde in die binneland heers.

Volgens die Namibiese weerkantoor sal dit ook gedeeltelik bewolk en baie warm in die oostelike dele van die land wees. Die weerkantoor voorspel selfs Windhoek kan môre en Donderdag reën ontvang.

Dit stem ooreen met talle weervoorspellingsdienste wat aandui dat daar vanaf môre (Woensdag) 'n kans op reën op plekke in Namibië bestaan.

Intussen het weerkenners gewaarsku dat 'n bolugsikloonstelsel oor die Atlantiese Oseaan ontwikkel het, wat tydens sy kwynfase oor die westekant van Suider-Afrika sal inswaai. Dit sal glo vir 'n “wilde seisoenoorgang” sorg wat “mik om grootmaatreën” vanaf môre na Suider-Afrika te bring.

Die nieregeringsorganisasie LandWater, wat satellietfoto's wetenskaplik ontleed en interpreteer, waarsku dat die bolugsikloonstelsel vir Namibië kwaai rukwinde vanaf die Weste kan beteken, terwyl dit vir die buurland, Suid-Afrika, meer reën kan bring.

Hoewel dit nog onseker is hoeveel reën Namibië van hierdie stelsel sal ontvang, word verwag dat 'n tweede én derde bolugtrogstelsel in hierdie eerste een se voetspore volg.

“Hierdie is 'n ontwikkelende prent en dinge mag vinnig 'erg' raak in Namibië,” het LandWater gewaarsku.

LandWater verduidelik dat die huidige stelsel in drie fases ontwikkel, wat beteken dit kan opbou om “uitgebreide, hoë volume reën oor groot dele van Suider-Afrika te sneller.”

Volgens Landwater kan die weste van Suid-Afrika reeds vanaf môre (Woensdag) reën verwag, wat teen Vrydag oos sal begin skuif, terwyl die voorspelling vir Namibië nog ietwat onseker is. Aangesien Namibië se weerontwikkeling meer oos sal neig, kan Botswana en moont­lik Zimbabwe ook uitgebreide reën van die stelsel ontvang.

Dit kan in die week van 25 Oktober en weer vanaf 1 November met 'n tweede en derde stelsel opgevolg word.

Amerikaners kla oor La Niña

Intussen het Amerika se Nasionale Oseaniese en Atmosferiese Administrasie (NOAA) in hul jongste uitkykstatus van 14 Oktober óók voorspel dat 'n 87% kans bestaan dat La Niña-toestande tussen Desember en Februarie 2022 sal heers. Volgens NOAA het La Niña-toestande reeds gevestig en sal dit na verwagting matige sterkte toon. Die diens sal op 11 November 'n nuwe uitkykstatus uitreik.

Dit volg nadat die Australiese Buro vir Meteorologie ook verlede week sy Enso-uitkykstatus na 'n La Niña-waarskuwing verander het. Dié weerdiens het toe gesê die kans het nou verdriedubbel dat dié weerverskynsel vanjaar sal posvat.
