Twelve-year-old Isai Tangeni Weyulu’s body was found by Navy divers this morning after he went missing on Sunday, while swimming at Independence Beach.
According to the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) crime investigations coordinator, deputy commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, Weyulu’s body was found not far from where he was playing and swimming with his friends. “It is suspected that the victim drowned,” he said.
“Isai and his family and other children went to Independence Beach to swim. While there, the guardian noticed that the deceased was nowhere to be found.
Family members began searching for him around Kuisebmond and Tutaleni, but without success. They then reported him as missing at the Tutaleni police station on the same day,” said Iikuyu.
The body was taken to Walvis Bay State Hospital for certification and further handling from where it will be taken to the Walvis Bay Police mortuary for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
No foul play is suspected so far. The investigation continues.
