Dorp van die jaar se makietieplanne

Sedert Swakopmund Kwêla se Dorp van die Jaar-­kompetisie gewen het, word hard gewerk om die prestasie in Desember te vier.

Ná drie vorige probeerslae het Swakopmund op 16 Junie vanjaar met Kwêla se Dorp van die Jaar-titel weggestap.

Die wenprys is N$1 miljoen se advertensielugtyd op kykNET, en die KIA Makietie word op 6 en 7 Desember op Swakopmund gehou.

Die makietie se amptelike bekendstelling was op 31 Julie en is deur die dorp se adjunkburgemeester, me. Maria Elago, behartig.

Om Kwêla se Dorp van die Jaar te wees, is 'n besonderse prestasie en bied 'n uitstekende geleentheid aan die stadsraad en inwoners om die dorp te bemark.

Meer as 20 000 mense word by die feestelikhede in Desember verwag.

Die geld wat gegenereer word, sal gebruik word om die onkostes vir die makietie te delg. Dit wat oorbly, sal vir die bemarking van Swakopmund gebruik word. Welsynsorganisasies sal skenkings ontvang en studente wat aan die nuwe universiteit op Swakopmund wil studeer, sal deur middel van beurse ondersteun kan word.

Homebrew Films, Artist Warehouse en 'n plaaslike reëlingskomitee bestaande uit lede van Destination Swakopmund (9) en munisipale amptenare (7) is in beheer van die makietieplanne.



Bydrae

Die stadsraad is genader om N$20 000 by te dra en die Vineta-sportveld, asook aangrensende oop grond vir parkering gratis beskikbaar te stel. Die verhoog vir die verskeie optredes sal op die sportveld wees.

Aangesien die makietie aan die begin van die feesseisoen gehou word, is die stadsraad versoek om spesiale verblyfpakkette vanaf 1 tot 14 Desember beskikbaar te stel vir diegene van ander dorpe wat wil saamkuier.

Mense wat vir die tydperk plek bespreek by sekere eenhede in die munisipale ruskamp, sal moontlik 20%-afslag kan kry

Spesiale kaartjiepakkette gaan ook moontlik beskikbaar gestel word vir deelne­mers aan die Internasionale ­Jeugkampioenskappe vanaf 2 tot 6 Desember, asook die Desert Dash wat op 6 en 7 Desember plaasvind.

Die reëlingskomitee sê die makietie moet 'n jaarlikse instelling word en in die toekoms in eerste week van Desember onder 'n ander naam gehou word.

Volgens die voorlopige program sal plaaslike dansgroepe en musikante soos George Longane tydens 'n musiek­konsert op die eerste dag van die makietie met Suid-Afrikanse kunstenaars onder wie Fatman, Wynand en Cheree, Juanita du Plessis en Die Campbells die verhoog deel.

Die volgende dag word die pret voortgesit. Die Saterdagoggend word 'n “slegs vir dames”-geleentheid met Hannes van Wyk by die Strand Hotel gehou. Lollos sal die kinders vermaak en 'n kookkompetisie vir bekendes sal onder leiding van die Namibiese sjef Sanet Prinsloo by die sportstadion gehou word. Dirk van der Westhuizen, Jezelle, Willem Botha, Leah, asook die welbekende Emo Adams en sy orkes gaan die voete laat jeuk en die ore laat tuit vir die tweede deel van die pret op die dag.

Dit word ook oorweeg om op 8 Desember opelugflieks op 'n reuse­skerm te vertoon.

Om dit alles moontlik te maak, benodig die plaaslike reëlings­komitee vennote en borge.

Lede van die junior dorpsraad is genader om te help met die verkoop van kaartjies, asook by die beplande pretpark vir kinders.
