Emil Dorgeloh and Judy Savage emerged as the winners at the adrenaline-packed Visions Consulting Namibia National Squash Open that took place at the SFC Squash Courts this weekend.

Dorgeloh defeated Angelo Titus 3-1 in the final to win the men’s A Section title.

“Finals are always tough. It doesn’t matter who the opponent is. That is why we are there. At the end of the day, it came down to who is the more focused player. I prepared for this game mentally and I think that was the difference,” Dorgeloh said.

Judy Savage beat Chantel de Gouveia 3-0 in the final to claim the women’s A Section crown.

“The final was a great game and playing against Chantel is always a challenge. It is also always good to play in Swakopmund because this is my hometown, so I had home court advantage,” Savage said.

According to Savage, she has been playing squash since she was 13-years-old. “So this tournament was a good game for me; a bit of exercise, and it is just good to be part of it,” she said.

Dorgelogh beat Danie Greeff 3 – 1, while Titus defeated Brandon Grane 3 – 2 in the semi-finals of the men’s division. Savage defeated Charne Fourie 3 – 0 while De Gouviea proceeded to final due to a round robin draw.

Sponsors Visions Consulting availed N$10 000 in prize money as well as goody bags for winners.

There was also a lucky draw held during the event, where De Gouveia won a painting on canvas by a local artist.
