Digital marketing training underway countrywide

The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), through the Centre for Enterprise Development (CED) and in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), invites Namibian business owners in the identified regions to apply for a digital marketing training course taking place.
The regions still to administer training are: //Karas (Luderitz), Erongo (Walvis Bay), Omaheke (Gobabis), Otjozondjupa, (Otjiwarongo), Kavango East (Rundu) and Kunene (Opuwo).
The next region in line for training is //Karas and thereafter Erongo for the dates of 19 and 25 October.
The training to be conducted in Walvis Bay will take place at the NUST regional centre. Application forms are available at the regional centre as well as online. The deadline for applications is 21 October, and only one person per business will be accepted.
The training objectives are to improve basic computer literacy skills and file management and increase knowledge on how to market using social media platforms as well as learning bookkeeping fundamentals by using digital tools for business-related calculations, transactions and accounts.

The requirements for the training are submitting proof that the business has been in operation for a minimum of two years (letter from the councillor office), being able to speak basic English, having basic knowledge of computer user skills as well as basic understanding of social media. Applicants must not operate from a premises – could be from the residence of the owners; must employ at least one person – proof must be submitted; must pay a registration fee of N$100, to be refunded after completion of the training.
CED marketing officer Vehonga Ndjitaviua said the modern business world relies greatly on computerised technology to professionally complete vast amounts of tasks. As for small business owners, having decent computer skills means that they can perform tasks that may position them above competing candidates.
She added there are many advantages of being skilled in computer literacy.
“One of them being tech skills are of utmost importance for entrepreneurs. Being computer literate will create space for new ideas, creativity and innovation that will ensure the business can compete on the mass global space,” Ndjitaviua said.
Over 83 applications countrywide have been received so far.
