Mnr. Dennis Seibeb (36) en sy hond Brownie is bekendes in Hentiesbaai waar hulle tuis is.

Seibeb is van Henties, hoewel hy in Swakopmund gebore is.

“Daar is nie 'n groot hospitaal in Hentiesbaai nie en dus moes my ma Swakopmund toe gaan om daar te kraam. So ek is in Swakopmund gebore, maar ek is 'n Hentiesbaaier,” het hy gesê.

Seibeb het in Uis skoolgegaan voordat hy Windhoek toe getrek het om by die destydse Ehafo Trust vir mense met gestremdhede houtwerk te gaan leer.

“Ek is toe weer terug Henties toe en het in 2002 as 'n voertuigoppasser by die inkoopsentrum begin werk.

“Ek het 'n fiets gekry en dit vir my behoeftes aangepas. Ek het onderdele van 'n ander fiets afgebou en by die nuwe fiets aangebou. Ek is baie trots op my fiets; dis die enigste kar wat ek het om werk toe mee te kan gaan.”

Vyf jaar gelede het hy na die dierebeskermingsvereniging (DBV) vir hom 'n metgesel gaan haal.

“My vorige hondjie Bruno het van ouderdom gesterf en ek was eensaam. Ek het vir Brownie gesien en geweet dit is my hond. Hy was aan die begin skrikkerig vir my, maar stadig maar seker het hy my begin vertrou en nou is hy altyd aan my sy.”

Soggens ry Seibeb vanaf die Omdel woonbuurt na sy werksplek toe, met Brownie wat langsaan die fiets loop. Brownie se kussing is op die fiets gelaai; so ook sy bak, water en kos. Brownie lê op sy kussing en wag dat Seibeb klaar gewerk het sodat hulle weer saam huis toe kan gaan.

“Op die oomblik voel Brownie nie lekker nie. Hy wil nie in die huis slaap nie en slaap buite onder 'n bos. Hy het nat geword en ek dink hy het bietjie verkoue gekry. Ek wil hom in die huis vasbind dat hy binne slaap, maar ek kry dit nie oor my hart nie.”

Seibeb nooi mense uit om 'n draai by die inkoopsentrum te kom maak en met hom te kom gesels.

“Ek is 'n baie vriendelike man en hou van gesels; kom maak 'n draai en kom kuier bietjie,” het hy gesê.
