Musician Livinge Dennis is set to launch a crowd funding campaign on 18 February, with the singer-songwriter hoping to raise enough money to finance the production of his first single and music video.
“This is such a big moment for me. I feel like I can reach out and grab it!”
Fans who support the initiative will receive rewards for their pledges. Depending on the amount pledged, they can receive rewards like early access to the song before the official release, executive producer credits in the music video, and even a private performance by Dennis at their home.
Dennis plans to release the single “Tell Them”, which has often featured by the musician and his band, Fate of Miss H. “I wrote this song the first time I left Namibia; I went to Zambia. It’s about claiming your space on this earth. In a way this is the story of me.”
According to Dennis, Namibian musicians face extraordinary challenges when establishing their careers. “As a Namibian artist, it’s hard to get access to studios and people often perceive music as a hobby. That makes it more difficult to be taken seriously.”
Dennis says that this dismisses the musical talent that Namibia has to offer. “It’s such a shame because we have so much talent to offer, and we’re just not paying attention.”
