Shekinah de Sousa and Delano Müller were crowned Miss and Mr Ace Models Coastal respectively, during the coronation ceremony at Seaside Hotel and Spa in Swakopmund on Saturday.

The competition comprised various sections, namely for costumes, interviews and evening wear, with the contestants doing their best to impress the judges.

Shekinah, who was also Miss Photogenic, also scooped the prize for the best costume for the ladies.

In the costume section, contestants were required to choose a country and come up with a costume and theme song for this country.

Shekinah’s country of choice was Portugal and she danced to the tune of São Tomé and Príncipe duo Calema’s hit “Te Amo”.
Multi-talented Shekinah also serenaded the audience with a well-delivered vocal performance before she received the director’s choice award.

She said that the months of preparation leading up to the event had paid off. “I am astounded, because I did not expect it.”

Let’s hear it for the boys

Mr Ace Models Coastal 2021 Delano Müller expressed his satisfaction at scooping the title once again. “It is always exciting when you win,” he said.

Müller attributed the victory to his high level of confidence and said he had fun on the ramp throughout the night.

He recommended modelling to his peers, saying that it can help them build their self-confidence.

Daphne Voigts, Sharon Kruger and Estrolita Peterson were the judges.

“I have been judging this event every year and I can see that the kids have improved,” said main judge, Voigts. “I noticed that they practiced the question-and-answer section of the competition and I would rather they not do that. I want them to speak from the heart,”

Ace Models is an international model agency franchise. In Namibia there are branches in Windhoek as well as in Walvis Bay and Swakopmund.
