Another weekend of cricket action drew to a close on Sunday.

The Walvis Bay-based MR24/7 Welwitschia’s travelled to Windhoek this weekend to play a 50 overs cricket premier league game against United, with the latter clinching victory over the visitors by eight wickets.

The best bowler was Nyasha Nyashadzaishe, who secured three wickets, 28 runs off five overs.

For the Welwitschia’s Michael van Lingen was the best bowler, with one wicket and 30 runs off eight overs.

In a first division 40 overs coastal league game, Sparta II played against the Outjo Northern Leopards.

Sparta suffered the same fate as the MR 24/7 Welwitschia’s, when they lost by eight wickets against Outjo.

For the Outjo Northern Leopards, their captain Pieter Smit was the best bowler, securing three wickets and 29 runs off eight overs. For Sparta, Marnus van Niekerk managed 41 runs off 7.2 overs securing the title as best bowler for the match.

JCCA

On Sunday, Junior Coastal Cricket Academy (JCCA) won by 9 wickets against Blue Waters 2.

JCCA’s Jaco le Roux was the best bowler for his team, after three wickets, 37 runs off eight overs, while Blue Waters; Nado Pasqualli managed 41 runs off 1.5 overs.

The fixtures for the next round of matches will be announced in due course.
