Die bestuurskomitee van Swakopmund se munisipale raad het aanbeveel die raad keur ?’n versoek van die Sentrum vir die Ontwikkeling van Gemeenskapsvaardighede (Cosdec) om ’n samewerkingsooreenkoms goed.

Cosdec wil die kwessie van die plasing van ambagstudente en die gebruik van die veeldoelige sentrum in Mondesa oplos.

Dié versoek is in Februarie tydens die beplanningsforum bespreek en aan die bestuurskomitee vir oorweging voorgelê.

Die bestuurskomitee het aanbeveel Cosdec lê jaarliks ’n implementeringsplan met spesifieke datums aan die opleidings- en ontwikkelingskantoor, die kantoor vir sport en ontspanning, aankopekantoor en die jeugontwikkelingskantoor voor.

Die kantoor vir jeugontwikkeling het aangedui hy steun die voorstel ten volle, omdat dit met ’n strategie ooreenstem wat die vestiging van vennootskappe met opvoedkundige instansies en vaardigheidsontwikkeling aanmoedig.

In ’n dokument wat op 17 September verlede jaar aan die raad voorgelê is, het me. Marilyn Eibes, bestuurder van Cosdec se Swakopmund-tak, voorgestel die munisipaliteit bied vakleerlinge vir ’n tydperk van drie tot ses maande werk in kantooradministrasie, loodgieterswerk, pypmontering, en pleisterwerk.

Sy het gesê dit kan betaalde of niebetaalde werk wees, met die opsie om hulp te verskaf indien logistieke probleme met byvoorbeeld vervoer sou opduik.

Die sentrum versoek die munisipaliteit ook om Cosdec-studente geleenthede te bied om te werk aan projekte wat die munisipaliteit private maatskappye bied.

Cosdec het voorgestel die gebruik van sy studente by loodgieterswerk-, pypmonterings-, klereproduksie-, sweiswerk-, metaalvervaardigings-, en konstruksie- en messelprojekte moet ’n vereiste wees vir maatskappye wat aansoek om kontrakte doen.

Cosdec is in 2006 gestig weens die gebrek aan toegang tot bekostigbare vaardigheidsgerigte opleiding vir studente.

Daar is besluit om die jeug, minderbevoorregtes en ander gemeenskapslede met praktiese vaardighede te bemagtig wat besigheids-, ondernemings- en lewensvaardighede insluit, om sodoende hul lewensgehalte te verbeter.

Die instelling is geakkrediteer deur die instituut vir gehalteversekering en volg die Namibië Opleidingsowerheid (NTA) se leerplan.

Die Swakopmund-sentrum het twee kampusse, een in Mahetago en ’n hoofkampus langs die Multipurpose Centre in Mondesa.
