Herman Grobler; Kudus Coach; “We hope that both teams clinch victories like they did last weekend…”

The FNB Kudus Rugby Club teams departed for Grootfontein to play their last premier and reserve league games before the semi-finals and the final round matches.

The semi-finals are slated for 23 October and the finals for 30 October.

FNB Kudus coach Herman Grobler said that both teams are excited about the weekend’s games.

“It’s a long journey. The team had a quiet evening at one of the guest houses in Grootfontein on Friday. On Saturday, Kudus II play at 14:00 and Kudus I at 15:45. The guys are ready, especially the second team which will be competing in the semi-finals.”

The Kudus players welcomed the “away” games.

“It’s been a while since we’ve travelled, so we are looking forward to this outing. This is also the last game for Kudus I and we want to end the season on a high note, while it is also a great way for the second team to prepare for the semi-finals.”

Grobler said that if the second team wins against Grootfontein, their opponents will either be Unam or Wanderers.

“It all depends on a win or lose for the weekend. We hope that both teams clinch victory like they did last weekend against United. I am especially confident that the second team will win their match.”

The coach said that Kudus I will face a strong opponent.

“Grootfontein is currently third on the log. They will definitely bring their A-game to score a win, as this will place them in a secured semi-final position for the premier league.”

Grobler predicted a tough and tight match.

“However, we are counting on our strengths, which are our backline and speed. We will take this game head on, enjoy it and the results will speak for themselves.”

In the first division league, Walvis Bay-based Sparta is anxiously waiting to hear who their opponents will be for the finals on 23 October 2021.

Sparta coach Franz Beukes said they will only know after this weekend who their opponents will be.

“We are either going to play against Unam or Rosh Pinah. We are practicing and working hard. It is our goal to reach the top and thus far we are still on course.”

The games between Kudus and Grootfontein I will be livestreamed on all of Namibia Media Holdings’ social media platforms.
