Bystand vir entrepreneurs

The Dome op Swakopmund se “fabriek vir entrepreneurs” het onlangs die goedkeuring van die dorp se munisipale raad ontvang.

Die raad het besluit om jaarliks tien entrepreneurs te borg sodat hulle deel van dié program kan wees.

Volgens The Dome se uitvoerende hoof, mnr. Fanus Engelbrecht, is die entrepreneur-“fabriek­konsep” in lyn met ses fokusareas van dié instansie wat onder meer sporttoerisme, lang termyn en gespesialiseerde bystand vir atlete, en die bevordering van entrepreneurskap insluit.

Ongeveer 24 besighede kan deur die inisiatief elke jaar bystand bekom in die vestiging en ontwikkeling van hul besighede.

“Voornemende entrepreneurs wat wil deelneem, moet hulle planne aan ons voorlê. Sou hulle gekies word, gaan ons hulle in die eerste ses maande help om die besigheid aan die gang te kry. Ons help byvoorbeeld om die nodige permitte te bekom waarna die kandidate in die laaste ses maande van die program hul besighede self moet bestuur, met bystand van ons verkose raad.”

Besigheidseienaars wat nie so bevoorreg is om 'n borgskap van Swakopmund se mu­nisipaliteit te kry nie, sal 'n deposito van N$5 000 moet betaal en daarna maandeliks nog N$5 000 om deel van die program te wees.

Engelbrecht sê die doel is om suksesvolle entrepreneurs te kweek.

“Ons wil die denkwyse rondom entrepreneur­skap verander. Al is die besigheid nie suksesvol nie, sal eienaars anders dink oor besigheid en hopelik daardeur in 'n ander stadium 'n suksesvolle besigheid skep.”

Sportborgskap

Swakopmund se munisipale raad het ook onderneem om elke jaar een atleet vir The Dome se sportakademie te borg, wat Engelbrecht hoop sal Olimpiese atlete oplewer.

“Dit is 'n langtermynprogram vir atlete wat kyk na alles vanaf dieet en leefstyl tot gesondheid en tegniek,” het hy verduidelik.

Hy meen daar is reeds Olimpiese potensiaal in die program teenwoordig – 'n karateka wat volstoom op pad is na die Olimpiese proewe, ­asook 'n paar baanatlete wat hy vertrou ­binnekort tot die wêreldverhoog sal toetree.

Volgens Engelbrecht kan The Dome egter net soveel doen.

“Hulle sê 'money makes medals', maar tot ons regering nie sport ondersteun nie, sal ons nie behoorlik die land op internasionale vlak kan verteenwoordig nie.”
