Boat capsizes at Vierkant Klip

Considerable damages incurred

A boat carrying eight people (including two children) capsized near Vierkant Klip this afternoon.

The crew were fishing when the incident happened.

According to one of the crew members, the waves tipped the boat over.

Although there was no loss of life or any injuries sustained by members of the crew, the boat was severely damaged.

Several members of the public rushed to the scene and assisted to get the boat, which is worth an estimated N$100 000, out of the water.

The Swakopmund fire and rescue services also arrived at the scene with efforts to get the boat out of the water intensifying.

The boat was eventually flipped over, pulled out of the ocean and towed away.
