Ashley Olyn; Blue Boys coach; “…the boys really made me happy.”
Blue Boys recorded a 3-0 victory over Northern Stars in a Namibia Football Association (NFA) Southern Stream First Division (SSFD) transitional league Group A match at Swakopmund’s Mondesa Stadium on Saturday.
The Swakopmund-based Blue Boys’ goals were scored by Mathew Haihambo, Jordan Haimbili and Christian Doeseb.
Blue Boys’ coach Ashley Olyn said that his team notched up their victory because their desire and hunger to win the derby was more than that of their opponents. “It was a tough match but our boys worked as a unit and we pulled through,” he said.
The fixture, which was supposed to take place at the Jan Wilken Stadium in Walvis Bay, was shifted to Swakopmund after the NFA revised fixtures.
Blue Boys made full use of the home-ground advantage.
“We will definitely work on our finishing, all in all – the boys really made me happy,” coach Olyn said.
It was Blue Boys’ second win on the trot after they despatched of Western Spurs with a 3-0 score-line in a previous encounter.
Moving forward, the Blue Boys coach said that his side is ready to do battle against any team.
“We had to make a few changes in our line up due to injuries players sustained but I won’t tamper much with my winning side, unless injures arise. Furthermore, the boys are focused, motivated and ready to take on any team.”
Northern Stars have still not recorded a win during the SSFD transitional league.
The Walvis Bay-based side drew their opening match of the league (1-1) against fellow Walvis Bay side, Western Spurs.
