Bibberweer vanaf Donderdag verwag

Koue toestande word reeds vanaf Donderdag in die Weste verwag. Teen Vrydag en oor die naweek sal dit na verwagting baie koud met ryp op plekke in die suidelike, sentrale en oostelike streke van die land wees.

Boonop kan reën en donderbuie oor die suidelike kusgebiede asook die //Karasstreek teen Vrydag verwag word, sê die Namibiese weerkantoor.

Die Suid-Afrikaanse weerdiens het in ‘n Facebook-plasing gesê alle oë is tans op die massiewe kouefront wat oor die Suid-Atlantiese Oseaan ontwikkel en teen Donderdag by die suidpunt van Afrika sal aankom.

“Dit beloof om swaar reën asook wydverspreide sneeu na Suid-Afrika en moontlik ook Namibië te bring, sou die stelsel op koers bly,” is gesê.

“Ons voorspellings wys nie net hoe die stelsel tans koers nie, maar dit hou aan versterk en kan vir ‘n gebeurtenisvolle naweek sorg,” het die weerdiens gesê.

LandWater, ‘n nie-regeringsorganisasie wat satellietfoto’s wetenskaplik ontleed en interpreteer, sê die stelsel gaan waarskynlik vir swaar reën, storm- tot orkaansterkte rukwinde en én groot deinings teen Maandag in die Kaap sorg.

Dit volg nadat ‘n kleiner front reeds vanaand die suidelike punt van die vasteland sal tref.

LandWater beskryf vandag se front as ‘n oopsluitstelsel (vir die groter een) wat die Suid-Atlantiese Hoogdrukstelsel agterna sleep en ruimte skep vir die weerstoestande wat in die tweede helfte van die week gaan ontwikkel. Boonop kan ‘n derde front teen Vrydag suidwes van die inkomende front ontwikkel.

“Ons kyk na uitgebreide hoë-volumereën wat dominant oor die suid- tot noordliggende Kaapse Plooiberge sal anker en ook mik om sterk hoër op te dring tot in Namibië."
