Sestig spanne het ingeskryf vir die Cymot korporatiewe hengelnaweek wat verlede naweek tussen Swakopmund en Hentiesbaai plaasgevind het.

Die geleentheid het Donderdagaand begin met ’n kapteinsvergadering en 06:00 Vrydag is lyne nat gemaak. Teen 17:00 moes alle spanne hul eerste dag se vangste inweeg.

Saterdag het die Rugby Wêreldbeker-finaal voorkeur onder hengelaars geniet en kort ná Siya Kolisi namens die buurland die Webb Ellis-trofee gelig het, was dit terug na die waters voor die skale 16:00 gesluit het. Daarna was dit skrop en skuur om seker te maak die hengelaars lyk deftig vir die prysuitdelingsdinee.

Span Klipdrift is as wenners aangewys met altesame 24,115kg se vangste, gevolg deur Alu-Max met 20,06kg se vis terwyl Skubbebar die laaste plek op podium met 17,79kg se vis, volgestaan het.

Span Klipdrift het ook die kategorie vir grootste (9,55kg) en derde grootste (4,77kg) kabeljou opgeraap, terwyl Skubbebar met ’n kabeljou van 4,8kg die tweede plek opgeraap het.

Charles Bothma van Gendev het goud gewen met sy kolstert van 1,4kg terwyl Alu-Max goud gewen het vir die grootste galjoen (1,505kg).
Cymot se bestuurder Manfred LaBorne het namens die besigheid bevestig hulle sal volgende jaar se geleentheid weer borg. “Ons is opgewonde en gaan beslis weer volgende jaar die hengelnaweek aanbied.”
