Bail for photographer

11 October 2020 | Crime

A 61-year-old photographer from Swakopmund who was arrested in August for attempted rape and sexual assault, has been released on N$5 000 bail.

Judge Nelao Brown granted Desmond Fick bail on condition that he has no direct or indirect contact with the victim.

Fick was arrested early in August after an 18-year-old woman filed a complaint against him. Fick, who has Namibian permanent residence, is said to have lured the young woman into his apartment in Ocean View, Swakopmund, several times between June and July.

He is said to have led her to believe that she was being prepared for a modelling job.

“The accused is alleged to have touched the victim on the chest, kissed and touched her genital area and also tried to take off her panties without her consent,” the police said at the time.

He is also said to have photographed the 18-year-old in the nude under the pretext of an alleged modelling job.
