AMV3-diamantskip amper gereed

Die helikopterdek van Debmarine Namibia se diamantskip, die AMV3, word by die Damen-skeepswerf in Mangalia in Roemenië gemonteer; 'n teken dat die skip binnekort gereed sal wees om sy nooiensvaart na Kaapstad te onderneem, volgens ­Debmarine se woordvoerder, me. Anna Ikela.


Die helikopterdek het 'n deursnee van ongeveer 23 meter en weeg net minder as 50 ton. Dit maak dit een van die grootste skepe in Debmarine se vloot.

Die landingstrook is ontwerp om verskeie helikopters te akkommodeer, insluitend die Sikorsky S-61, wat tot 30 mense op 'n slag na en van die AMV3 kan vlieg.

Die nuutste outomatiese brand­bestrydingstoerusting is geïnstalleer en die vereiste standaarde vir ­helikopterlandingstroke op die oopsee word aan voldoen, sê sy.

Die skip wat N$7 miljard kos, sal vroeg volgende jaar in Suid-Afrika toegerus word met toerusting vir sy diepsee-aktiwiteite.
