Amnestie vir skuld

Walvisbaai se munisipaliteit gaan in die nuwe jaar weer 'n grasietydperk vir die betalings van agterstallige rekeninge toestaan.

Walvisbaaiers wat in die rooi is by die munisipaliteit gaan opnuut kans kry om op te dok.

Vanaf April 2020 sal skuldenaars wat hul rekeninge volledig delg weer van rente kwytgeskeld word.

Die vorige amnestietydperk het vanaf 1 Desember 2018 tot 31 April 2019 geduur. Dit is toe vanaf 1 Mei 2019 tot 31 Augustus 2019 verleng.

Vyf-en-vyftig kliënte, waaronder 20 ondernemings en 35 huiseienaars, het die amnestie benut.

’n Bedrag van N$1,45 miljoen is ingevorder, waarop rente N$187 132 beloop het.

In die residensiële kategorie is N$1,075 miljoen vereffen en rente van N$159 339 afgeskryf. Sakeondernemings het N$376 066 opgedok en N$27 796 se rente is afgeskryf.

Die hoogste bedrag vereffen deur 'n residensiële kliënt was N$196 439, waarop rente van N$20 309 afgeskryf is. Die hoogste bedrag deur 'n besigheid betaal, was N$88 650. Rente op die bedrag het N$6 111 beloop.

Gedurende al ses amnestieperiodes sedert 2015 is byna N$13,6 miljoen ingevorder. Oor die ses jaar is rente van N$2,788 miljoen afgeskryf. ‘n Totaal van 56 besighede 161 huiseienaars het die vergunning benut.

Volgens die stadsraad se bestuurskomitee is amnestie noodsaaklik en strook rente wat afgeskryf word in alle gevalle met tariewe. Die komitee het gesê geen verliese is gely nie omdat geen dienste voorsien is nie.
