Ambulance in crash

Deputy commissioner Erastus Iikuyu confirmed that one person sustained minor injuries after an ambulance collided with a taxi at the corner of Nangolo Mbumba and Johnson Fwafwa Mabakeng Street.
“An ambulance driven by a 36-year-old man was allegedly on its way to attend a Covid-19 report at the Novanam Fishing Factory. The ambulance driver, with its siren on, skipped a red traffic light. A Nissan Tiida taxi driven by an unlicensed 20-year-old man allegedly failed to give right of way to the ambulance and caused a collision,” he said.
The impact caused the ambulance to flip over and it landed on stationary vehicle – a Toyota Yaris driven by a 43-year-old woman – which was travelling in the same direction as the ambulance.
The taxi had three occupants, a 37-year-old woman with her 5-year-old daughter, and the driver who sustained minor injuries. The ambulance driver (45) and the third vehicle involved in the accident did not sustain any injuries.
