The police in the Erongo region confirmed that 30-year-old Gerson Si Disho committed suicide by shooting himself on Friday morning at Mile 4.
According to Erastus Iikuyu, Erongo regional crime investigation coordinator, the deceased took his own life after he allegedly fired a shot at one of his former colleagues.
“He went to his former place of work at Ocean Village North Apartments located in Seal Road, where he found his ex-colleagues offloading tools. The diseased then allegedly took aim at one of the employees, fired a shot and missed his target.”
According to eyewitness accounts, the deceased wanted to fire more shots. However, his former colleagues scattered in different directions after the first shot was fired.
Moments after the incident, a report was received at the charge office that someone committed suicide in close proximity to the sea and in the vicinity of the Salt Company.
“The police found the lifeless body with a pistol at the scene. The preliminary investigation indicates that the deceased ended his life by shooting himself in the head. A suicide note was also found on the deceased.”
The next of kin were informed and the body was taken to the Swakopmund state hospital for certification. It was then transported to the Walvis Bay police morgue for a post mortem examination to be conducted.
