Schools enrolment rescheduled

A new date has been set for school enrolment in the Erongo region.

26 July 2021 | Education

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation, the Erongo education, arts and culture directorate has opted to shift the date of enrolment for pre-primary as well as grade 1 and 8 candidates from 22 June to August.

Grade 1 enrolments will be done at primary schools all over the region on 10 August 2021, after which the grade 8 enrolment process will be done on 11 August.

Pre-primary enrolment takes place on 12 August 2021.

The directorate has stipulated that schools will only hand out applications in accordance with available space and that enrolment should take place at the respective schools.

No record lists will be kept for pre-primary level, but all grade 1 learners who could not be enrolled must be recorded on a record keeping list.

The directorate wants the enrolment period to be concluded by 30 September and that parents be informed in writing.

Spaces available

The Walvis Bay circuit has indicated that they have 375 available spaces at pre-primary level among eight primary schools.
The Swakopmund circuit has 575 available spaces in nine primary schools.

Secondary schools in Swakopmund and Walvis Bay were asked not to admit learners who are not from the same town unless so instructed by the director of education.
