The National Youth Council of Namibia (NYC) is looking to sponsor 70 young entrepreneurs who would like to showcase their businesses at the Swakopmund SME Mini Expo taking place from 25 to 29 September.

Entrepreneurs who qualify are those who plan on showcasing products in the arts and crafts, agriculture (including food processing), climate change resilience business, manufacturing as well as science and technology categories.

The NYC’s Erongo regional youth coordinator, Ernst Weather, said that the NYC came up with the initiative to empower young people, adding that the decision to sponsor only youth entrepreneurs should be seen as a morale booster.

He encourage all youth entrepreneurs in Erongo to grab this opportunity with both hands to maximize the benefits.

The NYC will pay for the entrepreneurs’ transport to Swakopmund and back (NABTA rate), meals, accommodation, as well as marketing and exhibition fees.

He emphasised the importance of entrepreneurship to the economy, saying that entrepreneurs are a national asset. “Great entrepreneurs have the ability to change the way we live and work. If successful, their innovations may improve the standard of living and create wealth. They can also create jobs and contribute to economic growth.”

Application forms for the NYC sponsorship are available at all the 14 NYC regional offices. Entrepreneurs in the Erongo region can contact Weather at 081 145 6701.
