Glenn Clifford Leister (27) made another appearance before the Swakopmund magistrate’s court on Monday.

He stands accused for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl recovering from Covid-19 at the Swakopmund Rest Camp, which was an isolation facility as the time.

Leister was employed as a driver for the Swakopmund State Hospital to transport Covid patients to isolation facilities at the time of the alleged incident.

The matter is pending a decision from the deputy prosecutor general.

“I have spoken to the regional deputy prosecutor general on this matter,” said state prosecutor Johannes Shangadi.

Magistrate Nelao Brown postponed the case to 13 October pending a decision by the regional deputy prosecutor general.

The accused was represented by Jan Wessels.

At a previous hearing, which took place in September, Leister pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Leister will stay in custody at the Swakopmund police holding cells until his next appearance.
