As of yesterday, the final touches and placements of exhibitor stalls at the MTC Dome were being completed ahead of what is expected to be a life-changing moment for many athletes and sports fans.

The CEO of the MTC Dome, Fanus Engelbrecht has invited the public to flock to the high-performance centre in Swakopmund with the Namibia Annual Sport Expo commencing in the coastal town today. According to Engelbrecht, the expo is set to be an experience of a lifetime. "We are very excited about what is going to happen over the next couple of days. The aim of this expo is to enable people to showcase what is happening in sport in Namibia and to educate Namibian sports fanatics about Namibian sport."

Something for everyone

Engelbrecht confirmed that 18 sport federations have confirmed their presence at the event. He said that the Namibian Olympic Committee will also be present, as well as 30 other stands that will exhibit sport-related items. "We have plenty of activities lined up for the community including a boxing exhibition slated for Friday. "I therefore encourage all interested members of the general public to register for the event."

The Namibian Archery Association will also host a competition on Saturday as well as other entertainment.

Talk about it

One of the key aspects of the expo will be the two-day conference that starts today and ends on Friday. Sport sponsorships, indigenous sport in the modern world, and evidence that collaboration unlocks potential in sport are among the topics that will be discussed. Levelling the playing field and sharing significant stories of special and para-athletes will top the conference agenda on Friday. "There is no fee to be charged on Thursday. Members of the public will be required to pay N$50 per adult, while children enter for free on Friday and Saturday."
