The Miss Teen Walvis Bay pageant returns this weekend with boys added to the lineup for the first time and after having been put on hold for two years due to COVID-19.

Organized by the Junior Council of Walvis Bay, the annual competition will take place on 25 June, at the Walvis Bay Town Hall. Sixteen contestants (10 girls and six boys) will be given an opportunity the to express themselves and do some good for the community of the harbour town.

The pageant will be hosted under the theme ‘All around the World’. Contestants can dress up and represent any country of their choice. They will compete in three categories, namely theme wear, casual and evening wear.

The Junior of Walvis Bay Jasmine Sitzer promised that this will be no ordinary pageant. “Miss Teen Walvis Bay is focused on uplifting teenagers by helping them develop self-love and confidence."

Sitzer explained that the judges will allocate points out of 10 for each contestant in each category. “The top five highest scoring contestants will move on to the questioning round, from which the winners will be selected. We already had interviews with the contestants to look at their personality types, vibrancy as well as the organisations that contestants will establish when crowned. So, it’s definitely not all about looks."

The Junior Council has ensured that winners will not leave empty handed. “Different prizes are to be won. These include vouchers and weekend trips away.”

Local teens will be performing at the event. Junior City Council member James Katjapire will also be in action in a dance item with Sayance.

Sitzer advised the public to come support the contestants. “Lets travel around the world in just night. This is the first Miss Teen in two years and the very first Mr Teen as well and defenetly not an event to be missed.”
