Junior City Council to host fundraiser
The event, to be hosted under the theme 'A Night in Las Vegas', will take place at the International School of Walvis Bay's school hall on 10 September. The dress code is semi formal for the occasion which is reserved for high school learners only.
The junior mayor of Walvis Bay Jasmine Sitzer said that the funds raised will be used to assist a soup kitchen which operates at the Tutaleni High School on Saturdays. "This project has been making a meaningful impact over the last six years and caters for more than 200 kids. We will also create a basic necessity box full of things we take for granted daily, for example a face towel or toothbrush."
According to Sitzer this will most certainly be a night not to forget. "Local well known youth artist and a DJ with irresistible tunes will make attendees move with the groove and ensure that everybody is aptly entertained. The youth requested for this event and the Junior City Council delivered. We are expecting the youth to attend in numbers given that the money goes for a good cause. This event will not only be about getting together as the youth and having a great time, it is part of something impactful and buying a ticket means you are contributing towards the success of this project so tell your friend to tell a friend."
During her reign as junior mayor Sitzer, implemented projects every month whether it was big or small. "Upcoming events are the Prefect Breakfast, Spelling Bee and Debate competition. There will also be smaller projects, for example assisting learners with exam pads, pencils and pens to name a few, for their upcoming examinations."
Tickets are available for N$40 or N$60 per person at the door.
