Suicide reported in Swakopmund

An unidentified male person was found hanging from a green plastic rope attached to the pole of a stall in Swakopmund on Wednesday.

Inspector Ileni Shapumba, the unit commander for community affairs in the region confirmed the incident. "The suicide occurred at a location in Ondjamba Street in the DRC informal settlement. The scene was attended by the police accompanied by paramedics from Swakopmund State Hospital. The deceased was wearing a grey suit, a blue doted shirt, brown khaki trousers and brown leather shoes. he is believed to be between 30-45 years."

Shapumba said that the deceased is not known to the people in the area. "His next of kin are unknown, hence, not informed. No foul play is suspected. Investigations and efforts to trace his next of kin are on going.
