Masked man rapes minor in Omaruru

The police are investigating a case of rape which occurred in a patch of bushes on the banks of the Omaruru river and in close proximity to the industrial area of the town.

The Erongo regional commander for community affairs Ileni Shapumba said that the incident happened on Tuesday at about 17:00. "The suspect came across two minor girls fetching fire wood. He attacked the older girl (13), tied her hands with a rope and dragged her towards the Omaruru river bank. He then tied one of her arms to a tree and forcefully had sexual acts with her. The other girl ran home and reported the incident to the family. The suspect was wearing a mask."
