A 30-year-old man was found dead in his home on Sunday, while his family of six was hospitalised.

The head of the community policing sub-division in the Erongo region, Inspector Ileni Shapumba, confirmed the incident saying that the incident occurred at around 07:00 in Fisant Street at the Otweya settlement.

"After eating and following an evening prayer, they all went to sleep. It is further alleged that at around 02:00 the wife went to the bathroom as she had stomach pains. Eventually she was so weak she could not move. She called for help, however neither her husband nor the children responded,"

"She sat in the bathroom until 07:00 on Sunday morning. When she regained some strength, she shuffled along the wall as support to the bedroom when noticed that everyone else in the house was unconscious. She called for help and a neighbour notified the police.

The family were attended to by medics who discovered that the husband was unresponsive. The deceased was identified as Alfeus Amadhila. His next of kin have been informed

Other family members including the wife were admitted to and are being treated at the Walvis Bay State Hospital and are said to be in stable condition.

Police will conduct a postmortem to determine the cause of death, while further investigations continue.
