Bridegroom commits suicide

A Namibian male, Israel Itembu (43), was discovered hanging from the roof in his room at Erf 127 Waag Daar in the DRC informal settlement, Swakopmund on Thursday.

Erongo police regional commander for community affairs, inspector Ileni Shapumba confirmed the incident. "The fiance of the deceased made several calls to him which went unanswered. This prompted her to notify his family members and to return home from work. The duo were to get married in December 2022. The deceased was found dressed in a brown suite which according to a witness, was intended for their wedding ceremony."

Shapumba said that no suicide note was found and no foul play is suspected.
